| WSU needs your help to push forward! We are requesting employees fill out the demographic fields for sex, race and ethnicity, disability status, and veteran status in their Workday profiles. Self-identification of your demographic information is entirely voluntary yet essential to WSU’s programs, services, and employment opportunities. Your demographic information allows WSU to satisfy the requirements of the law, draw professionals who provide services that advance WSU’s core missions, and engage students in world-opening discourse, fund indispensable research and innovation, and foster sincere belonging across campuses, countries, cultures, and communities. |
|
| To review, add, or make changes to your demographic information, click on your profile picture on the top right corner of your Workday page, and click View Profile. Next, click on the Actions bar directly below your name and title, and click on the following actions under Personal Data to access your information: |
- Change My Personal Information
- Change My Veteran Status Information
- Change Self-Identification of Disability
|
| You can also review detailed instructions about modifying your personal information in Workday. |

WSU is a federal and state contractor, which means WSU receives funds from the federal government and the state of Washington in the form of financial aid, research funds, and various other grants.
Collecting this data allows WSU, as well as state and federal agencies, to assess whether our recruitment, retention, and other employee processes are effective at ensuring equal employment opportunity. |
|
| WSU’s failure to collect and report employee demographic information would result in the loss of eligibility for government funding, including financial aid and research funds. This would substantially imperil research, educational, and professional opportunities for WSU’s students, faculty, and staff and hamper WSU’s recruitment and retention of talented and passionate employees. |
|
| Submission of this information is voluntary and refusal to provide it will not subject you to any discipline or adverse treatment. However, WSU is still required to report employee demographic information to the state and federal governments due to our compliance obligations. If you don’t provide it, WSU may be reporting or relying on inaccurate information, which could impact programs, grants, and other opportunities. |
