Fall 2020 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit |
Equity in Higher Education during the Time of COVID-19 |
Thursday, November 5 | 1:00–3:00 p.m. |
Join us for the Fall 2020 Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Summit. The event will bring together all WSU faculty, staff, and students to discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed inequities across the nation and how these inequities are impacting WSU students. Additionally, it will explore how the pandemic can be seen as a catalyst for long-lasting change in equity, justice, and community building—and how faculty and staff are all called to contribute to this crucial work. |
|
President Kirk Schulz and Jaime Nolan, associate vice president of student affairs, will provide opening remarks on the national landscape; the pandemic’s impact on WSU students, faculty, and staff; and lessons we have learned and are learning. |
WSU students will share stories about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted them personally. Presenters from each WSU campus will address: |
- How are we being called to do the work of equity and justice differently in light of the pandemic? Each presenter will provide an example from their campus.
- The potential to acknowledge and address issues of equity, justice, and community-building in this sociopolitical moment.
|
Elizabeth Chilton, provost and executive vice president, and Mary Jo Gonzales, vice president of student affairs, will provide closing remarks. The summit will conclude with a Q&A. |
