Finding success during difficult times
In spite of this year’s challenges, our school continues to thrive with record enrollment, the addition of several new faculty members, and growth of our research enterprise.

Early career awards

Three faculty members received the National Science Foundation awards, which provide significant research support to young faculty beginning their careers.

Microsoft fellowship

Sarah Fakhoury received the 2020 Microsoft Research Ph.D. Fellowship, which will support her work in applying neurocognitive science techniques to software engineering.

Cougs helping Cougs

Sometimes life is about helping a neighbor in need. And sometimes in the next moment, it’s about reaching out for a helping hand.

Speeding up machine learning

Researchers developed a computer architecture that works more than 50 times faster than conventional graphical processing units (GPUs). They presented their work at the Design, Automation, and Test in Europe (DATE) conference.
