A return to campus
From School Director Ryan Smith: We’re excited for a fall with in-person classes, hands-on studios, students bustling in our hallways, hugs, and high-fives.
National teaching award
Omar Al Hassawi received the national AIAS-ACSA New Faculty Teaching Award. The award honors early-career architecture faculty who demonstrate teaching excellence. 
A tiny homes plan
Landscape architecture and interior design students drafted a model tiny homes ordinance to allow them in Lewiston, Idaho. They presented their ideas to city planners and community members.
Top CM prize
A student team took first place in the Associated Schools of Construction competition, the largest construction management competition in the United States.
WSU-NREL joint appointee
Julia Day will be the first WSU-National Renewable Energy Laboratory joint appointee. The partnership between the two institutions aims to address challenges in energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, renewable power technologies, and smart grid integration.
Significantly Washington
Phil Gruen served as one of the coordinators of Washington’s classic buildings for an online encyclopedia produced by the Society of Architectural Historians.
