Update:

Conduct of research, scholarship, creative activity at WSU

May 5, 2020

Dear WSU faculty,

Thank you again for adjusting your instructional, research, and service activities in response to the COVID‑19 pandemic. Your continued hard work and dedication to our land‑grant mission have been key to WSU navigating this crisis. It has been an extraordinary privilege to work with you, the broader WSU community, and colleagues across the region and state to meet this challenge.

We are writing regarding conduct of WSU research during the current period, and in particular how WSU will respond to the latest guidance from Governor Inslee.

The university will be issuing updated direction reflecting Governor Inslee’s new “Safe Start” plan shortly. Until that guidance is issued, our previous guidance distributed on March 26, 2020 remains in effect. In particular, all who can conduct research, scholarly, and creative activities remotely should continue do so. WSU’s March 26 directive lists on‑site activities approved to continue as long as they are conducted under mandated safety standards, including extreme social distancing and disinfecting.

Please contact the Office of Research with any questions at research@wsu.edu or 509‑335‑5238. Guidance specific to certain WSU research activities is regularly updated on the Office of Research COVID‑19 webpage.

Thank you again for all you do for WSU.

Sincerely,

Bryan K. Slinker
Interim Provost and Executive Vice President
