Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

For the past year and a half the Executive Budget Council (EBC) has been hard at work understanding WSU’s current budget practices and developing a budget model to better align resource allocation with our strategic goals. In a few weeks, we will host a series of system-wide EBC virtual presentation and feedback sessions.

We are excited to share the council’s work and present the proposed budget model. In each session, we will reserve time for community members to ask questions and share their thoughts. Your feedback will be critical as we continue to refine the budget model.

As the budget model is finalized, the EBC is also developing a governance process to support the utilization of the new model. We anticipate having more information on this soon. Our goal is to have the new budget model and supporting process running as a pilot system by July 2022 and full implementation completed in the next year or two. More information about the budget model and associated strategic budget process is available on the provost’s website, and we will post FAQs there as well.
