Remembering our deceased students

Remembering Jessica, Justin, Rachel, and Dashiell

The entire Cougar family is invited to unite in support of the families, friends, and classmates of four of our students—Jessica Brooks, Justin Elzinga, Rachel Pomeroy, and Dashiell Mortell—who have died unexpectedly in recent weeks.

8 p.m. tonight
Candlelight vigils to remember Rachel, 20, a junior from Monroe, Wash., and the others who died, will be held at 8 p.m. today on top of the Holland/Terrell Library in Pullman and at Lake Tye Park in Monroe, Rachel’s hometown. She died in a traffic accident January 8 while driving back to Pullman for the start of spring semester.

January 13
Funeral services for Justin, 20, a sophomore from Kennewick, Wash., who attended WSU Tri-Cities, will take place at 1 p.m. January 13 at South Hills Church in Kennewick. He died unexpectedly at home January 5.

January 15
Dashiell, 19, a sophomore from Bainbridge Island, Wash., who died January 7 in a car accident, will be memorialized at a service at 3 p.m. January 15 at Bainbridge Performing Arts on Bainbridge Island.

Jessica Brooks
Jessica, 26, a senior veterinary student from Sequim, Wash., died December 27 in a car accident. Memorial services already have taken place, but donations in Jessica’s name may be made to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

Please join Cougars everywhere in extending our condolences and honoring the memories of four of our talented students who brought abundant joy into the lives of everyone who knew them.
