Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center
A Celebration of Diversity
The Cultural Center will serve as an arena for celebration of heritage and pride not only for people of color, but those who believe in diversifying our campus.

Eduardo Ramos, ’19 Communications, Political Science
During his time as Washington State University’s 10th president, the late Dr. Elson S. Floyd was dedicated to a diverse, inclusive WSU. In recognition of those efforts, and as a commitment to carry on that legacy, the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center bears his name.

The 16,000-square-foot facility will open this summer as an open space for students to embrace WSU’s diverse cultural histories, connect with classmates who come from different backgrounds and experiences, and have critical conversations about diversity and inclusion. With one large “living room,” four smaller “knowledge rooms,” and a commercial kitchen, the building will host a wide range of events, meetings, presentations, and classes to advance cultural exploration and understanding.
The Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center will carry on its namesake’s mission, and doing so will require investments from our university community. You can help expand diversity, cultural competency, and inclusion at WSU. Please make a gift to the Cultural Center today.

Additionally, those who make gifts of $5,000 or more will be recognized as Founding Partners on a permanent public display at the Cultural Center.
