Severe cold weather expected in coming days
The National Weather Service is forecasting that the Palouse region
will experience dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills over the
next few days. These frigid temperatures could be accompanied by six to
eight inches of snow, making travel treacherous in some areas.
WSU Pullman’s emergency management team is monitoring the weather
closely and will post any updates on campus operations to the WSU Pullman
alert.wsu.edu website. Employees should consult the WSU Inclement Weather website
if they are unable to travel to campus safely or if campus operations are
interrupted by the winter storm.
Temperatures are not expected to return to the normal range for this
time of year until the weekend. If you are traveling during this period,
we recommend keeping your vehicle fueled up and your cellphone fully charged.
Allow extra time to arrive at your destination and keep a blanket, gloves,
food and water, and other emergency supplies in your vehicle just in case.
